Window - 'Iron Man' (framed original A6 drawing)
Window - 'Iron Man' (framed original A6 drawing)
This is one of four original drawings made for the Present Exhibition at Beautiful Materials gallery in Newton Mearns, near Glasgow. The exhibition showcased postcard sized artworks by 37 artists with a view to giving them as gifts.
I made 4 original ink drawings to create a series called Windows. Each one has a framing device of a Glasgow Tenement sash window and we are viewing something happening in the window. From my central Glasgow flat, I can see across to other buildings and occasionally see people inside their homes, just as they can see me. These windows into other people’s lives were the basis for these single pane comic artworks.
This one is titled Iron Man and features a bald man ironing a shirt with text below reading;
‘One neighbour is always ironing
in his underwear, but I have
never seen him fully dressed.’
